Welcome to Ruru - the watchful guardian

Hi my name is John Bennett, about 6 years ago my wife Nikki started having a series of issues that 3 years later we would discover was a rare form of Alzheimer's called PCA (Posterior cortical atrophy). 

This lonely, crazy and challenging new way of being has lead me on a journey. A Journey of learning about myself, the system and the community, about what it is to be human and about how brave our loved ones with Dementia have to be from the time they wake, until the respite of sleep allows them to become like the rest of us, unaware of social reality.

This is the About Me section but you know what, it's not about me it's About Us. I've realized I only know who I am as far as I exist today. But when I dream of the About Us it gives me hope and a reason to look beyond me.

I've built this support network, community in the hope that it will become the go to place for, friendship, encouragement and a place to reach out with care to others living in the same reality. Real practical loving support, like lets have a coffee & carrot cake at the local cafe.
